The 3 p.m. concert will feature Wagner’s overture from “Die Meistersinger Von Nurnberg” and Brahms’ “Symphony No. 4.”
The concert will take place in the Community Arts Auditorium at Wayne State University at 450 Reuther Mall. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to support Street Medicine Detroit. The concert will be followed by an afterglow and an opportunity to speak with members of the organization.
Street Medicine Detroit provides medical care directly to those living and sleeping on the streets through mobile services such as walking teams, medical vans and outdoor clinics. Wayne State University School of Medicine students formed a chapter for Detroit last year.
Approximately 50 members strong, the ensemble is made up of medical and dental students, resident and attending physicians, nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists and other members of the medical community. The Detroit Medical Orchestra exists to explore the connections between music and healing, foster partnerships among medical professionals and make philanthropic contributions the medical community in Detroit.
