SOM residents take first and second in state anesthesiologists poster contest

The Wayne State University School of Medicine’s Department of Anesthesiology Residency Program submitted four posters for the Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists 55th Annual Scientific Meeting and captured both first and second place.

A total of 10 entries were submitted to the program, held Feb. 27-28 at the Somerset Inn in Troy.

The first place winners were Toshniwal Gokul, M.D.; Josifoski Ace, M.D.; Patel Padma, M.D.; Kumar Sanjeev, M.D.; and Wang Hong, M.D., for “Assessment of Difficulty in Airway Management in Obese Patients.”

Taking second place were Motlani Faisal, M.D.; Crawforth Karen, M.D.; Soskin Vitaly, M.D., for “What is the Incidence of Postdural Puncture Headache When an Epidural Catheter is Placed Intrathecally Following Accidental Dural Puncture?”

Other teams that entered posters included Coleman Allen, , M.D.; A. Kovalchuk, M.D.; N. McNeil, M.D.; B. Mock, M.D.; T. Ried, M.D.; and Wang Hong, M.D., with “The Effect of Cisatracurium and Pancuronium on Genomic Instability; and Moussa Adib, M.D.; Josifoski Ace, M.D.; and Fuleihan Samir, M.D., with “The Effect of Intravenous Naloxone on Pruritis and Nausea in Patients Receiving Epidural Hydromorphone.”
